Use SRT when the contribution crosses a long haul or a link that drops packets. The protocol is built for that path. You send the stream you have, and Vasl receives it on the same install as every other ingest. Pair SRT with a local playback protocol once the stream is inside. WebRTC for people who answer. HLS for a large watch-only audience. RTSP for a recorder on the local network. You can also push the program onward over SRT. See Restream.
