Use RTSP for cameras and recorders that are already on the network. Vasl can pull a camera that publishes an address you can reach, or take a push from a device that sends RTSP in. This is the usual ingest for a wall of feeds: transit, utilities, venues, and any site that already installed RTSP cameras. Play a feed in the browser over WebRTC when an operator has to act on it. Keep HLS or a recording when the clip has to stay on site. You can also play a stream back out over RTSP when the next device expects that protocol.
