# RTSP

> Pull or push cameras and recorders you already installed.

Use RTSP for cameras and recorders that are already on the network. Vasl can pull a camera that publishes an address you can reach, or take a push from a device that sends RTSP in.

This is the usual ingest for a wall of feeds: transit, utilities, venues, and any site that already installed RTSP cameras. Play a feed in the browser over [WebRTC](/play/webrtc) when an operator has to act on it. Keep [HLS](/play/hls) or a [recording](/recording) when the clip has to stay on site.

You can also play a stream back out over [RTSP](/play/rtsp) when the next device expects that protocol.
